The Historical Society sometimes engages in community events and projects to help St. Mary’s Bay South. These will be listed here when and as they happen, so watch this space for more.
St. Mary’s Bay South Bonfire
“Bonfire Night” took place in late June. People in the communities would gather trees, branches and driftwood and have a bonfire to celebrate the end of a school year. This event has died off over the years. This year, on June 24, 2019, St. Mary’s Bay South hosted a bonfire for all communities.
Bonfire 2019 was lit by Mr Dan MARTIN on behalf of his mother Mrs. Bride MARTIN for her work in promoting the history of St. Mary’s Bay. There was a mug up with hot chocolate, toasted homemade bread and roasted marshmallows. The weather cooperated and a good time was had by all.
